went to the jazz fest again! it was a great decision to go man! cos had the chance to listen to a fantastic guitarist, farid ali aka
mr gambus! gambus is actually the name of the instrument he plays. The "gambus" is a 12 strings lute of Arabic origin. the sound produced from the gambus was really interesting. its so traditional yet sensual (well at least to me) and it blends in so well with the contemporary jazz music! the rest of the team who played that night was fantastic too. Eric Li on the piano, my fav John Thomas on drums, Wan Azfarezal on double bass, and Julian Chan on saxophones and flute.
and the best thing... we had such a fantastic view! got a table riiiiight in the front! well.. almost front.. just a couple of table away from the stage. awesome!
however, mr gambus cant talk!! haha.. he can play and sing but when he starts talking, we had no idea what he was trying to say! he seemed to be "eating" his words. oh well.. maybe thats how artist speaks! :p
